How did you get started?

Nic got started in motorsport in 2000 at the age of 14 where he built and raced a Vauxhall Nova in grass track racing. He had many top 3 finishes and in his 1st season he came 6th in the championship. In 2001 he finished 4th and in 2002 he finished 3rd.

In 2004 Nic then spent time working as a mechanic for a small race team where his duties were to maintain a Westfield race car for John Morton in the BARC Westfield race championship. He travelled the country to many race tracks such as Silverstone, Croft, Brands hatch and Donnington park.

In 2007 GW Racing was founded when Nic had the opportunity to buy the Westfield off of John who was retiring from Westfield racing. He bought the car and rebuilt it to compete in the 2008 Westfield championship. After his first season, Nic finished 14th out of 19 in the championship.

In 2008 he then rebuilt, developed and upgraded the car for the 2009 season where he had many top 10 finishes and also had a 2nd place podium finish and he came 9th out of 17 in the championship. Nic also won best presented car several times in the season.

In 2009 the car was rebuilt again to a very high standard, ready for the 2010 season where Nic really peaked in the Westfield championship having a top 4 finish in every race, where he was always with in a few 10ths of a second from a podium finish. He the got his 1st podium finish of 2010 at Mallory park where he came from starting 8th on the grid to finish 3rd and with a photo finish, the times showed he was 0.011 of a second behind second place.

In June 2010 Nic tested a Legend race car at Brands hatch where he proved to take to the car like a duck to water and put in some very good lap times, some of which were 1.5 seconds off the fastest lap for a legend car at Brands hatch.
Nic will be competing in his 1st legend race in August at Pembrey in Wales.

Nic aims to compete in the 2011 Legend championship where he will be looking to forward his racing career eventually building up to be able to race in a formula single seater race championship.
